This here is ne of the questions I hate being asked. It is truly very Americana/ Canadiana, in this respect, though it has almost come to a halt until last week, immediate after sharing a story that showed a bit of my living space (I rarely show anything but a zoomed plate of food but none of my living space), 2 of my Instagram followers, asked n DM

"What is it that you do?" -

To be honest, I find it a bit intrusive - and it struck me that people ask, sometimes bypassing what they want to know - the thing it is you do - how much do you make and how do I do that? 1 day later, thinking how to respond I apologized for the time it took to respond and said, I am in Strategy.

Granted I have posted many things here where most people know what I do - it is not a secret, it is the underlying motives and context in which people ask.

Excellent post!
