“We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.” — T. S. Eliot

Today’s post is more personal, reminiscent of the stories I shared over 5 years ago. More recently, my blogs have focused on my scholarly work in AI, as well as Design and Technology. But TODAY, inspired by the holiday spirit and thoughts of family drawing near, I will share a more personal story of self-discovery. This experience has led me to a deep sense of empowerment.

Opening up DNA results is a deeply soulful moment for many Black diasporans, filled with a mix of pride, anger, hurt, pain, and almost all the emotions one feels in such moments of self-discovery. It involves a sense of deep loss and a collective emotional catharsis. It’s a feeling like no other.
