I am a strategic-minded creative introvert and often find myself at odds with the fast-paced, process-driven extroverted culture that often dominates the corporate world. To be honest, I have found such spaces highly suppressive While many may thrive in high-energy, collaborative settings, I prefer deep, reflective thinking and carefully planned approaches — time to mentally maneuver around things and when it feels like an aha moment is upon me I can then act. Naturally, I have found myself at complete odds in environments where a “leader” expects pure production and uses this as a gauge of performance. There is, in here a complete incongruence and divergence of ways of working, in my own experience.
This divergence sometimes leads to misunderstandings or underestimation of the contributions of those who fit in the strategic minded introvert category. Those whose contributions, are borne from quiet contemplation and long-term planning may not be as immediately visible or assertive as the tactics of more extroverted peers…
