Cousin Anette was, from all accounts, a god-fearing woman, who perhaps was best known for humming hymnals, as she tended her portion of the wider family farm. She was the first cousin to Sophie’s maternal grandma, which would make her, Sophie’s first cousin, twice removed. They were the children of siblings — Sophie’s great grandmother, Nen, and her great grand uncle, Moises.
