Seriously, do we really need an app for that? Innovation gone off the rails

I am a competitive scrabble player, a hobby since childhood-and one re-ignited during the COVID-pandemic, as a reflex and coping mechanism during that time. Yes, I thought we were going through another instance of the Spanish flu; yes, I thought we were all going to die. So, with little left to do on days quarantining in Canada, and if you are Canadian, we had one of the longest quarantines. In fact, I am still recovering from the trauma of that time.

And so, while couped up in close quarters with my family, while working remotely, I found a lot of solace in playing mobile games. I oscillated between candy crush and scrabble, so as to not focus on the pandemic and really to not think about the probability of imminent death.

Even after the pandemic was over, I kept playing both scrabble and candy crush; more so, scrabble, which can take days to complete because I am at war with the scrabble avatar, Zoey.
