I have a confession to make. A few months ago, I realized that I’m addicted to soft life videos. Whether I’m doing chores alone or working on mundane tasks around the house, these videos are my constant companions, providing the perfect background hum. There’s something incredibly comforting about them. I find them calming, but most of all, I love the idea of toiling and creating things by the sweat of my brow — it’s the farmgirl in me. You might be wondering, what exactly is a “soft life” video? I’ll get to that shortly. Let me unfold this delicacy of social media genres for a soft landing.

Under the umbrella term “soft life,” I’m especially fond of a particular genre that features serene scenes from, often, tropical, off-grid locations filled with lush plants and animals roaming about. I am partial to ducks and dogs lazing around, doing duck and dog things. For me, it has become critical to infuse a healthy dose of balance away from the cacophony of life.
