I don’t remember writing this post😁 Story of my corporate life. My best friend and I both black Canadian women (highly educated MBA and expectant PhD) could have written this. 5 years ago we decided to reestablish the function of white corporate imposition on our necks. Always consulted but never promoted. What white corporate don’t get is that we give 150%. Jadedness about our prospect, over time, lessens that and leads to growing cynicism and indifference as there is no future for us. Many of us check out and go on auto pilot to pay the mortgage. They miss out on our magic and they now know we will not stand back. I know so many black folk who are good enough until promotion. That was my experience at Autodesk and BlackBerry (I’ll tell like Azalea Banks). Very toxic and nasty places I have ever worked and I am being kind. In both places I can collectively count all the black people I knew on one hand over my 10 year combined. The day I hired a black female engineer to my team, I sense I was out because 2 black smart women is a gang ‘ a threat to the White Brogrammers always telling us what we just told them days before. I now laugh in their faces and they know I know they know their jig is up. Same old same old. Void of that black creative magic.
