As a self-proclaimed aficionado of quote calendars, I’ve always found a certain magic in them. Each Christmas, I indulged in the ritual of selecting a chunky desk calendar, a tradition that shifted to the digital, in recent years. And so it was not to surprising that during the turbulent time of my divorce over a decade ago, I stumbled upon an unexpected source of strength: motivational quotes. These brief yet potent messages became my daily mantras, guiding me through the tempest of change and uncertainty. They have been more than mere literary decorations in my life; they’ve served as lifelines, infusing my toughest days with needed inspiration.

More recently, while scrolling through my Instagram, I noticed a predominance of motivational memes in my feed. It dawned on me that perhaps my natural inclination towards these snippets of encouragement had influenced the algorithm to deliver more of them.
