If you are human and reading this, you already understand the profound impact of experiencing moments of complete clarity that have altered the course of your life. These moments can be fleeting or monumental, much like the epiphany, a term popularized by the Irish author James Joyce, and depicted in many of his novels, including A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. In it, his main character Stephen’s moment of revelation comes in a churchyard, following his mother’s death and with the tolling of the clock that he had passed by many times before, yet that fateful day a moment of clarity occurs that would change his life’s path.
