Beyond capitalism: rediscovering what truly matters

I will be honest: I am exhausted. I am weary of all the trappings of capitalism into which I was born — a system frequently described as “low road capitalism.” Low road capitalism is often defined as a system designed to relentlessly pursue short-term profit at the expense of sustainable human development, genuine creativity, and robust community bonds. I believe you know exactly what I am referring to; you see it, you feel it. It manifests as a continuous, fear-driven mechanism that reduces our rich, complex human experiences to mere transactions and data points ripe for exploitation, while, at the same time, eroding both our environmental integrity and collective social well-being. And I know in my gut that I am not alone as I look around.
In 2019, I returned to complete a doctoral degree — a goal I had postponed for 20 years as I dealt with the relentless machine of LIFE: having children, enduring a divorce, starting over and and climbing the invisible ladders of both social and corporate hierarchies.
