A few months ago, out of the blue, I deleted my Instagram app and informed my nearly 6k followers that I was taking a break. I ended up taking a nearly 6 month break. It was so freeing. Given I had some very good long term instapals, I mentioned that if they needed to reach me, they could email me — a great many did and to me it was just what I needed.

I have been on Instagram since 2016 and have met some wonderful people, mostly moms, with whom I shared interests in school lunch ideas, meal ideas, and the occasional compulsory selfie.

Who didn’t get caught up in the duck face frenzy?

This wasn’t my first long social media break; it has become a regular part of my year and, to be honest, one of the most restful times. I don’t have to think about how to “feed the gram.” I will also say, I enjoyed…
