Growing up as the offspring of an immigrant, my career menu was as limited as a diner’s late-night specials — think ‘Doctor, Lawyer, Engineer, Nurse’, and for the family daredevils, maybe a ‘Police Officer’. It was like choosing from a set of crayons where all the colors are fifty shades of ‘Respectable’. But here’s the twist: I ventured into the Humanities — the academic equivalent of wearing a polka-dot tie to a black-tie event. Not a good thing in my family — filled with academic giants, which I reference later.
In this blog, I’ll walk you through, implicitly, my journey in the Humanities — the true path of an educational rebel, and why you, dear students, might just want to join this quirky, insightful, and utterly rebellious club for your future in education.
